Unity + Petaloo ... team up Unity Thursday!!

Happy Thursday everyone.. I wanted to share my project that was on the Unity Blog this past

here is my project.

Using one of the Past SMAK kits , I made this fun layout..

It was out time last fall down in Connecticut , where I was teaching at CKU

one of or stops was a trip to the Target there.. and I captured these kiddos

having a treat in the store.. Starbucks.. who can turn that down!!

Using the Past SMAK kit of the Month " love story clips"

this is the December 2012 SMAK kit..

I just love all the elements of this kit and that clip board had me all excited to

use it in a fun way to hang a photo.

For this layout I wanted a distressed look for my layered flower.

Using Flowers from Petaloo's Color Me Crazy collection...

I first took a variety of flowers to layer.. from large to small.. then sprayed them all with

Heidi Swapp's Color Shine.. then let those dry.

Then using the stamp from the April 2013 SMAK kit

"Celebrate the Good Times"

and some brown ink I stamped on the flowers.

then for the distressing I lightly splattered some

Bronze color shine .

the last thing I did was let the flower dry completely and used my fingers to form the shape

to make them more 3-D .. I love the look . I love that the stamping added another element to

what would just be a plain flower..

Again, we'll be sharing ideas using Unity Stamps & Petaloo all week long...

A Guy & some GIRLS... Unity Thursday

Hi everyone, welcome to Unity Thursday..

Today I am sharing the newest ANGIEgirl and angieGUY  May 2013 release..

I am so happy to see this fella come out in stamp form.. he has been with me all his life

and this year will be concurring his desire to become a Carpenter / Renovator...

He will be attending a course at George Brown College and I am so proud of him..

 

Meet ALEXguy...

( if you have not guessed who inspired him, he is my only son)

when I told him he will be in stamp form he gave me that little smile

I know he was happy.. but ,he is nearly 18 so not much emotion.. but a mother knows.

 

for all those handymen or not handymen in your lives this is a fun stamp..

will be great for Father's Day.. your sons, boyfriends, and your fix it handyman.  

 

 

 

Then we have the CUREgirls.. I, for the past 4 years have been with a team

of women from my old neighbourhood, we all walk for the fight against

Cancer for Relay for Life.. this is for all the women and men out there

that do this every year in support of cure..

.. and will be walking again at the end of this month.

It is a 12 hour walk and so worth staying up all night to participate..

so meet my girls.. inspired by the Laugh, Dance, Cure team..

(Joan, Sandra, Cindy, Me,and Pauline)

This stamp will be great for thankyou notes for your sponsors,

layouts, and I want to stamp these girls on  team t-shirts.. that would be so cool.   

 

 

 

Next up is my Adventure girl... MARENgirl

she is named after a former Unity dt.. Maren Benedict

I have never met her in person, but I love her so.. and when I

made this girl, she was the person that inspired me.. I always see

what wonderful adventures she has.. I so want to be that adventurous..

She has inspired me for years, as I know she has inspired others.

 

I know I will be using this on  a layout this coming summer.. we are

going to try camping in June/ July.. hoping it won't be a 3 hour trip

to the hospital like the last camping trip..

 

 

Last girl.. I love her.. SAMMYgirl

I love mermaids.. my daughter wanted me to make her one to draw

and this is the Mermaid i made.. then everyone wanted her to be a stamp.. so

here she is... with a star, shell and some waves.. I named her SAMMYgirl after one

of my sweet neices.. Samantha.. she totally feel in love with this mermaid.

 

 

these would make some fun party invites.. and the kids could colour their own cards..

Unity Thursday... goodness!!

 

Hello... I have a ton to show you today.. so I will get right to it..

First off have you seen the newest May Kit of the Month..

Totally & Utterly Amazing

I just love it.. here is a layout using some of the images from this kit.

it is called Totally & Utterly Amazing..

it has a variety of stamps for everything from Father's day, Inspirational sentiments,

Graduation, Prom, .. summer and more..

the images I designed in this kit are the lemonade pitcher and the border stamps.

 I just love it..

 

 

 

here are some of the details of my layout.. I layer and paper pieced

some of the stamped elements. 

 

 

 

the journaling I did using my electric typewritter.. I am so in love with this machine!!

 

Now another layout using the May 2013 SMAK kit..

just one of THOSE days...

I love all the elements of this kit.. great for layouts, project life

and it offers some great journaling spots.. with my favourite camera image..

and some great words .. perfect for sports, summer.. any time of year.

 

Today, remember ... PLAY HARD

the stamp designs I created for this kit are the line of cameras, the happiness is journaling
told by: and true story word sentiments. I know I will use this kit a lot.. for my PL and
layouts. Maybe a fun Mini Album..

stamps and photo's on these projects.. nothing on this page is patterned paper.

 

Lastly.. I went CRAZY using the new " a bit ABOUT kits.. I love them all!! hehe.. 

 I wanted to do my latest Project Life pages using as many stamped elements I could..

so I did a collage of sorts..

 

You will see a little bit of something from every kit.. I love these kits and will get a ton of use

out of them for my Project Life, my mini albums and making my own calendars.. such a must have

for your collection..

I paper pieced the images to use as an accent to the top of my page..

then taking some of the 12 x 12 papers and layering them on top of each other for a layered look.

The flowers from Petaloo added the perfect accent for these papers..

I just love the blues and yellows.

You can see the wonderful layers in this close up.. and that cross word paper is my

favourite.. I used the sticker letters and words to add my title .

I just love how I can fly by the seat of my pants and I can create

something out of the blue. If you know me well... this happens alot..haha

No different for this fun layered

"My Best Friend"

 frame for my Mom for this coming Mother's Day.

With fun details that just pop right off the frame..

 all made with this beautiful must have collection of papers "Grace".

I started by using a wooden frame from Michael's craft store.. then proceeded to pencil

the shape of the frame and cut it.. adding 2, 1 1/5 and 1 inch strips of decorative papers, that

I punched using some border punches.  each layer is using these amazing Therm - o - web foam

squares, in both the 1/4 and 1/2 inch size. and they are very sticky so it will hold on my project very well. I wanted to achieve a 3-D look so you can touch the dimension of this project.

I then took my project outdoors and sprayed some Glitter Gold dust all over it.. it almost

transformed the paper to look like fabric. it is delightfully glimmery and appealing without it

looking like a thick layer of spray. I just love this look.. you might not notice it in these photo's

that is how subtle of a look you will get. so your paper designs still shine through. LOVE that!!

The flowers I made Using some fun punches from McGill it transformed the "poised" paper

into the loveliest embellishment ever.. using punches for the leaves and  sprigs..  then adding the

individual "zots" singles to adhere them together..  and some foam dots to give the flower the

same height as the rest of the frame , so it is not tilting in any way.  I then finished it off with

some May arts ribbon and string and some pearls from Want2scrap .

I love how a less than $2.00 frame looks amazing with these papers.

 I know my Mom is going to love this for Mother's Day.

Unity Thursday Dream Big

 

Hello everyone, hope you are all having a wonderful Thursday.

this week we are releasing some amazing Phyllis Harris stamps.. and I must say

this one is my favourite..

 I love them all but a giraffe..

well that just makes me so happy.

Here it the card I made using this image..

Have you also seen the new STAMP of the WEEK.. well this is it.. a beautiful

butterfly.. I went all retro on this one with my distress inks and gave it a Tye dye look.

 

then this week I wanted to play with some papers from Simple Stories.. this is only

the 6x6 pad I used an look at all the details you can get with that little pad and the

stamps from the SMAK kit from March.. I just LOVE this page.

I inked up my stamps with some memento dew drops in different colours, it is my

favourite ink .. and the colours are outstanding. I love it because you can also

use your copics with this ink without them bleeding into your markers.
